startin' on the solids

Well, okay, the semi-solids -- given that the rice cereal is majorly watered down with Mommie's milk (soupy library paste is the phrase that comes to my mind when I'm mixing it up). Yes, Haven had her first taste of the stuff almost two weeks ago (Sunday, January 11th, to be exact). At first, she wasn't too sure about this latest milestone, but since then, she has decided that she can't get enough of it! Screw that nursing stuff, Mom! I want more cereal!!

The first taste...

Gracelyn fed Haven a few bites, too (we only got video of that...no still pics)

Soupy library paste -- my, that's delish!!

Today was Haven's 6 month check-up, so we've got some updated numbers on our chunky monkey. Actually, it turns out that, this whole time, the doctors had a boys' growth chart in her file instead of a girls' chart; all of our previous percentiles were screwed up (much lower than they should have been). We've gotten that situation all straightened out and should have completely accurate percentile ratings from here on out.

Haven's latest numbers:
  • Weight: 18 lbs, 2 oz (85th percentile)
  • Height: 27.25 inches (90th percentile)
  • Head Circ: 16.25 inches (25th percentile)
We've also been given the go-ahead to start her on her first veggies. Bring on the smashed, pureed, and liquified sweet potatoes, carrots and squash!! Yum!
